Morning Preparation – 6:30 AM
The day starts early in the HVAC industry, especially during the peak winter season. After checking my service schedule, I load up the van with essential parts and tools, knowing that today’s route includes stops in Redmond and Kirkland for heating service calls.
First Call – 8:00 AM
My first appointment is a furnace inspection in Bellevue. The homeowner reported unusual noises coming from their heating system. These preventive maintenance calls are crucial – they help catch small issues before they become major problems during the coldest days of winter.
Mid-Morning Emergency – 10:30 AM
Just as I’m wrapping up in Bellevue, dispatch calls with an urgent heating repair in Mountlake Terrace. An elderly couple’s furnace stopped working overnight. These are the calls that remind me why I love this job – helping people stay warm and safe during winter emergencies.
What I Typically Carry:
- Multimeters and electrical testing equipment
- Common replacement parts (igniters, flame sensors, capacitors)
- Basic sheet metal tools
- Safety equipment
- Diagnostic devices
Afternoon Schedule – 2:00 PM
The afternoon involves a heater installation consultation in Lynnwood. I walk the homeowner through their options for upgrading their aging system, explaining the benefits of modern, energy-efficient units.
End of Day – 5:00 PM
Before heading back to base in Edmonds, I complete my service reports and prepare for tomorrow. Every day brings different challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable, no matter what the Pacific Northwest weather brings.
Working in residential HVAC services means being part technician, part problem solver, and part educator. It’s rewarding to know that our work directly impacts our neighbors’ comfort and safety throughout the greater Seattle area.
